As an organization we develop optimism as a philosophy of life utilizing the tenets of the Optimist Creed; two of which are: to aid and encourage the development of youth, and the belief that the giving of one’s self in service to others will advance the well-being of humankind, community life and the world.
To aid and encourage the development of youth, every year students from the Alton Area are presented the opportunity to complete an application for the Optimist Scholarship. Scholarships are awarded to high school seniors who exemplify the meaning of giving of one’s self in service to the well-being of humankind, community life and the world.
If interested in applying, watch for a link to the application to be available in January of each year.
